Our mission

The Coosada 911 Communications District is dedicated to providing reliable, efficient, and professional emergency communication services for the communities and agencies we serve. When people need help, our job is to make sure emergency services respond quickly, calmly, and effectively.

The district is focused on the continued progression and advancement of 911 and related services. As the most technologically advanced Emergency Communications District in Alabama, Coosada 911 provides call handling, dispatch, technology, and backup services to agencies well beyond its local boundaries.

What we do

At home, the district coordinates 911 calls and emergency dispatch for:

  • Coosada Police: law enforcement dispatch and communications
  • Coosada Fire/Rescue: fire and rescue dispatch and communications
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch: protocol-driven medical pre-arrival instructions, including Telecommunicator CPR, while dispatching Coosada Fire/Rescue's licensed transport ambulance

Fourteen public safety telecommunicators provide 24/7/365 coverage, ensuring that emergency calls are handled promptly and routed to the appropriate first responders at all times.

How 911 calls reach us

Calls arrive at the district in whatever way best fits each agency we serve. For some, we are the first voice a caller hears; for others, calls reach us by direct dial, dedicated lines, or seamless transfer from a partnering center. However a call gets to us, it is answered by a certified telecommunicator who verifies location, dispatches the appropriate responders, and stays on the line with pre-arrival instructions until help arrives.

The district operates a next generation call handling platform built for voice, TTY, and multimedia, with device-based caller location and redundant routing. We are happy to serve as your primary or secondary PSAP, whichever your agency needs.

Technology we rely on

Coosada 911 pairs its own platform with best-in-class public safety technology, including solutions from Axon, Prepared 911, and RapidSOS, and more. The result is richer caller data, live video from the scene, and better information in the hands of responders before they arrive.
